Full Confession:“Real Men Last night a man told me “You deserve to die for pissing with REAL men” as I was waiting in line to use a restroom in a club. The look in his eye told me he wanted blood. Today I can’t stop listening to Tori’s version of “Real Men”…. Shortly after he said this … I found myself chasing him down trying to kick his ass. “Is This a Real Man” I asked myself … I thank Tori for covering that song, because as a gay man, I have always felt like one of the “Boys on the sidelines” not allowed to play in the actual game ‘with the real men’. But through that song - I have allowed myself to look at the social constructs of gender roles and expectations.  Hate … hurts. Today I feel sad that I was attacked, but I am not going to let it consume me, this is DEFINITELY something that Tori’s entire song catalog has taught me…  “You can only be you … a lot of times it isn’t good enough for people”
